{"id":18245,"date":"2020-06-29T10:31:28","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T14:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/?p=18245"},"modified":"2020-06-29T10:31:28","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T14:31:28","slug":"patriotic-summer-front-door-basket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2020\/06\/29\/patriotic-summer-front-door-basket\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriotic Summer Front Door Basket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Sharing an easy way to add patriotic touches to a front door basket filled with greenery.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I am busy adding some patriotic and summer touches to my home starting with the front door!&nbsp; I hadn\u2019t changed anything on our front porch since I got it cleaned up and decorated for spring but was wanting to do something different on the front door for the rest of the summer.&nbsp; I always do a wreath but was wanting to try something different and do a front door basket instead!&nbsp; Have you ever used a basket instead of a wreath on your front door?&nbsp; I have to admit it was way easier than making a wreath!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-9\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Summer-Patriotic-Front-Door-Basket-9.jpg\" alt=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-9\" width=\"650\" height=\"977\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll show you exactly what I filled it with but basically I just filled it with several green fern picks and some hanging succulent type picks, added a sign on the front, stuck in some little flags and called it done!&nbsp; Seriously like a 10-minute project!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-21\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Summer-Patriotic-Front-Door-Basket-21.jpg\" alt=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-21\" width=\"650\" height=\"878\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>So here\u2019s a picture of everything I used and I\u2019ll link as much as I can below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>twine<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/the-painted-nest-co.myshopify.com\/collections\/frontpage\/products\/cast-iron-happy-place\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Happy Place cast iron sign \u2013 local shop (The Painted Nest) but she ships and has beautiful decor and great prices!<\/a><\/li>\n<li>basket- thrifted<\/li>\n<li>large fern pick \u2013 Michaels out of stock but <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/38cGiKa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar one linked here<\/a><\/li>\n<li>3 small fern picks \u2013 Michael\u2019s last year<\/li>\n<li>hanging greenery picks \u2013 Hobby Lobby<\/li>\n<li>small flags \u2013 can find anywhere but <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2ZhAYkJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linked these here<\/a>. I use them all over my house for summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"IMG_8034 (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_8034-1.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8034 (1)\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I will link several similar baskets I found if you are wanting one for your front door or even to use inside.&nbsp; I think a front door basket is so versatile and could be used all year long just changing out the florals inside of it.&nbsp; I love this <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2ZeeUaA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">willow gray washed version linked here.<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; And this <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3g9RBW6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">darker wicker one has a sign on the front already.<\/a>&nbsp; And love the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2BT9xW4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">color\/texture of this one too!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To attach the sign to the basket I just strung some jute twine in the holes on the side and in through the basket and tied a knot in the back.&nbsp; It is heavy cast iron and such good quality and you won\u2019t believe the price!&nbsp; My <a href=\"https:\/\/the-painted-nest-co.myshopify.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">friend Amanda has the best little store in the cutest little town<\/a> and also ships and does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/274821026585215\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">live sales on facebook (here\u2019s a link to her facebook group).<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp; I have loved adding some new home decor pieces to my home from her shop recently.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-17\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Summer-Patriotic-Front-Door-Basket-17.jpg\" alt=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-17\" width=\"650\" height=\"908\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I love what it added to the basket and it\u2019s such a fun saying for the front door or for inside your house.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-16\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Summer-Patriotic-Front-Door-Basket-16.jpg\" alt=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-16\" width=\"650\" height=\"483\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The fern picks I literally just stuck inside bending the stems as needed \u2013 larger one in the back, 3 smaller ones in the front, and the draping ones on either side.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If your basket is bigger or you need more support or height for your greenery, you could use floral foam inside the basket to stick the stems into or even use crumpled up paper or grocery bags to help fill the space.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-15\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Summer-Patriotic-Front-Door-Basket-15.jpg\" alt=\"Summer Patriotic Front Door Basket-15\" width=\"650\" height=\"935\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The flags are just stuck in there as well and will be easy to remove if I don\u2019t want to use them for the rest of the summer.&nbsp; The ferns\/greenery-filled basket will be perfect for the rest of summer though!
