I was in one of those moods to change up the decor in my house this week even in the midst of a busy week of VBS at church. \"Smile\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s just been quite a while since I did a seasonal mantel (except fall and Christmas), and to be honest sometimes I miss it.\u00a0 My style is much more simple and neutral now\u00a0 – just what I crave at this stage in my life – but that doesn\u2019t mean I can\u2019t decorate for the seasons in a fresh and new way.<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s my Summer Patriotic Coastal themed mantel!<\/p>\n

Perfect for 4th of July next week and the coastal touches make it perfect for the rest of the summer.\u00a0 I love patriotic decor but I don\u2019t want a lot of red in my house during the summer.\u00a0 Just a few touches and some turquoise blues are perfect!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m really giving that red fireplace the side eye right now as it seems to show even more in these pictures.\u00a0 I hope to tackle that later this summer but I\u2019m a bit nervous that I won\u2019t get the german shmear\/antique brick look that I want.\u00a0 One of these days I will get up the nerve to tackle it!<\/p>\n

If you remember back in the spring I added some teal blue pillows and those go perfect for this coastal patriotic look too.<\/p>\n

The wood flag sign was an after-season clearance find at Kirkland’s last summer\u00a0 I think I got it for $10 or less at 75% off.\u00a0 I checked their website and they don\u2019t have it again this year but they do have this USA cutout wood sign<\/a> or this Star Spangled Banner song wood sign<\/a> for 50% right now.<\/p>\n

My ceilings are just so high in the living room that it was too small to use by itself over the mantel so I hung it over my shiplap backdrop.\u00a0 I really like the layered look anyways!\u00a0 Then just added a few starfish and seashells, a navy pillow grabbed off the guest bed, and some regular decor that has a coastal feel on the coffee table and that completes the look.<\/p>\n

Now it has me wanting to go to the beach \u2013 can\u2019t wait for vacation later this summer.<\/p>\n

So just a simple coastal patriotic themed mantel this summer!\u00a0 I love how just rearranging a few things and changing out some decor brings a fresh and clean look to our home.<\/p>\n
