{"id":15890,"date":"2017-11-28T11:51:04","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T16:51:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/?p=15890"},"modified":"2017-12-04T12:30:37","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T17:30:37","slug":"diy-scrabble-letter-christmas-ornaments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2017\/11\/28\/diy-scrabble-letter-christmas-ornaments\/","title":{"rendered":"DIY Scrabble Letter Christmas Ornaments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This post is part of a series entitled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2017\/11\/27\/12-diys-of-christmas-12-easy-15-minute-5-christmas-projects\/\">12 DIYs of Christmas<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0 You can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2017\/11\/27\/12-diys-of-christmas-12-easy-15-minute-5-christmas-projects\/\">see all the projects and post in this series here.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the second DIY of Christmas, I made DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Christmas Ornaments\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Christmas-Ornaments.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Christmas Ornaments\" width=\"650\" height=\"929\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I saw these several years ago and have been wanting to make them ever since.\u00a0 So glad I finally got them done and they fit my white and black with touches of red decor theme this year too.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-1\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Ornaments-1.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-1\" width=\"650\" height=\"503\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Supplies needed (affiliate links included for your convenience):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2k8rsPP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scrabble letters<\/a><\/li>\n<li>hot glue<\/li>\n<li>ribbon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So in all my thrifting and yard sale shopping, I looked for an old Scrabble game and found one for $1 at a yard sale.\u00a0 If you can\u2019t find one secondhand, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2k8rsPP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pick up a set of 100 Scrabble letters for $5 on Amazon.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This would be a fun project to do with your elementary and up age kids \u2013 have them see how many Christmas words they can think of and spell out with the letters. I wanted words that related to the Christmas story and these are the words I came up with.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-2\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Ornaments-2.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-2\" width=\"650\" height=\"447\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are several ways you can glue them together.\u00a0 If you were having kids do it, I would use Elmer&#8217;s or wood glue and glue the letters onto a wood craft\/popsicle stick.\u00a0 You should be able to cut the popsicle stick with a strong pair of scissors to the length you need.\u00a0\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t find my popsicle sticks so I opted to just glue the letters to each other using hot glue.\u00a0 And then glued a piece of ribbon to the back to hang it with.\u00a0 I did all of these in about 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-3\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Ornaments-3.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-3\" width=\"650\" height=\"408\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then hang them on the tree or even adorn a package with them!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-6\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Ornaments-6.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-6\" width=\"650\" height=\"975\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think these would be adorable on a small tree \u2013 they would show up and be even more prominent.`<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-7\" src=\"https:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/DIY-Scrabble-Letter-Ornaments-7.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Scrabble Letter Ornaments-7\" width=\"650\" height=\"975\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Or even put them all on a wreath to make a statement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px;
