margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"31 days to take the Stress out of Christmas - large\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/31-days-to-take-the-Stress-out-of-Christmas-large2.jpg\" alt=\"31 days to take the Stress out of Christmas - large\" width=\"224\" height=\"224\" border=\"0\" \/><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>This post is part of a series \u2013 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2014\/09\/30\/31-days-to-take-the-stress-out-of-christmas\/\">\u201c31 days to take the Stress out of Christmas\u201d.<\/a><\/strong> You can read all the posts in the series <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/2014\/09\/30\/31-days-to-take-the-stress-out-of-christmas\"><em>here<\/em><\/a><em>.\u00a0 And to make sure you don\u2019t miss a post <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/feedburner.google.com\/fb\/a\/mailverify?uri=Wwwthefrugalhomemakercom&amp;loc=en_US\"><em>you can subscribe to have every post delivered to your inbox<\/em><\/a><em>, or <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thefrugalhomemaker\"><em>follow me on facebook<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I LOVE hot, fresh, straight out of the oven cookies! <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" style=\"border-style: none;\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wlEmoticon-smile11.png\" alt=\"Smile\" \/>\u00a0 I am pretty sure I am in the majority with that either.\u00a0 But with just the two of us at home making a fresh batch of cookies when we want a sweet snack after supper isn\u2019t practical.\u00a0\u00a0 So a few years ago I saw a tip to make up a batch of cookie dough (bake what you want to enjoy that night) and stick the rest in the freezer to pull out for other nights when you want a warm treat or when you need a dessert to bring to a function.\u00a0 Or when the neighbor or a friend stops by, you can pop some in the oven and have hot, fresh cookies in less than 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>This is a GREAT way to take some stress out of your holiday baking too.\u00a0 I am trying to build up my collection of cookie dough in the freezer for Christmas baking so I made a fresh batch of one of my favorite cookies \u2013 Cowboy Cookies!<\/p>\n<p>You just make up your cookie dough and scoop out what you want to bake right then.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0340\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_0340.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0340\" width=\"600\" height=\"722\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then using an ice cream scoop, scoop out all the rest of the dough and put on a cookie sheet and pop in the freezer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0342\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_0342.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0342\" width=\"600\" height=\"737\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let freeze for 4-6 hours until firm and frozen and then pop in a freezer Ziploc bag.\u00a0 Label the bag with the kind of cookies, date you made them, and instructions on how to bake them (ex: 350 degrees for 10 minutes). \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<em>Disclaimer: I am not responsible for cookie dough getting eaten straight out of the freezer. \u00a0Nor would I know anything about that. \ud83d\ude09 \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0344\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_0344.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0344\" width=\"600\" height=\"518\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I am ready to bake them, I just pull out as many cookie dough balls as I want to bake and pop them straight into the oven.\u00a0 No need to thaw.\u00a0 I find that they usually bake just 1-2 minutes longer than the original recipe called for or longer than you baked them when they freshly made.\u00a0 Just set your timer for about 10 minutes and then check to see if they are done.\u00a0 I like my cookies on the \u201cnot quite done \u2013 soft and chewy side\u201d so adjust to your families taste.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0350\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DSC_0350.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0350\" width=\"600\" height=\"444\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have done this with pretty much any cookies that I have made and they always turn out great!\u00a0 I would say they probably need to be used\/baked in 3 months or less but we never have problem with that \u2013 they are gone way before that! <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" style=\"border-style: none;\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/wlEmoticon-smile11.png\" alt=\"Smile\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s some of my favorite cookie recipes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherthyme.com\/2012\/11\/cowboy-cookies.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cowboy Cookies<\/a> \u2013 our all time favorite!\u00a0 Like a warm Mounds bar in a cookie!\u00a0 Don\u2019t skip toasting the coconut.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"Cowboy Cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Cowboy-Cookies.jpg\" alt=\"Cowboy Cookies\" width=\"487\" height=\"730\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/penniesngrace.blogspot.com\/2013\/04\/i-need-to-talkhere-i-am-knock-knock.html#uds-search-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Molly\u2019s Chocolate Chip Cookies<\/a> \u2013 this our favorite regular chocolate chip cookie recipe.\u00a0 Her recipe makes a TON so it is perfect to mix up to throw the extras in the freezer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"Molly's chocolate chip cookies\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Mollys-chocolate-chip-cookies.jpg\" alt=\"Molly's chocolate chip cookies\" width=\"472\" height=\"417\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This another favorite!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recipegirl.com\/2012\/03\/12\/peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-oatmeal-cookies-with-sea-salt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies with Sea Salt<\/a> (I don\u2019t always do the sea salt but we still LOVE these cookies)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"BROWN SUGAR OATMEAL COCONUT CHEWIES\" src=\"http:\/\/thefrugalhomemaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BROWN-SUGAR-OATMEAL-COCONUT-CHEWIES.jpg\" alt=\"BROWN SUGAR OATMEAL COCONUT CHEWIES\" width=\"461\" height=\"456\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also love the idea of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.melskitchencafe.com\/cookie-dough-tins-a-simple-how-to-for-a-simple-gift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">giving frozen cookie dough as a gift<\/a>!\u00a0 You could even do a cookie sampler so like a dozen of 3 different cookies of 1\/2 dozen of 3 different cookies.\u00a0 So fun!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none;
